Planned Giving: Building and Sustaining a Non-Violent Community

Your estate plan can be a powerful and meaningful tool to create lasting change in your community. By naming Raphael House of Portland in your estate plan, you help to build a sustainable community where violence is not tolerated and where families are given vital resources to achieve their goals.

Every year, 60% of the people served by Raphael House of Portland are children. Working together, we can make sure this percentage drops. Your estate gift allows us to create lasting social change through education and outreach programming in local schools and to focus on long term goals – on building a community where no child has to live in emergency shelter or fear being hurt by someone they love.

Here are some of the easiest ways to make a gift to Raphael House of Portland through your estate:

  • Name Raphael House of Portland in your will or living trust. To learn more, click here.
  • Name Raphael House of Portland as a beneficiary of your life insurance or retirement plan. To learn more, click here.
  • Name Raphael House of Portland as the beneficiary of a charitable remainder trust.

Informing us of your gift

If you choose to make a bequest, we would be honored if you let us know so that we can express our appreciation and honor your support.

We understand that estate planning is personal, and you may choose not to inform anyone of your decision. If that is the case, please know that your decision to make a bequest to Raphael House of Portland is immensely meaningful. Estate gifts allow us to prepare for long term organizational growth and provide us with a foundation for the on-going work of ending violence in this community. Thank you.

Donating Items

Donation Drop Off

Donation Drop Off is held the First Thursday of each month from 11AM-2PM and the Third Thursday of each month from 4-7PM at Sunnyside Centenary United Methodist Church, 3520 SE Yamhill St. Enter the building on 35th Ave.

Please note:  we do not accept any used clothing, used toys or large furniture items.

The generous support of community donations makes our programs possible. The current state of the economy means that costs for providing food and clothing to the survivors and their children living in our shelter have risen dramatically. If you’re interested in hosting a donation drive at your school, office or place of worship, please check the wish lists below to see what we need most!

Raphael House Wish Lists

Tri-Met bus tickets are one of our biggest monthly expenses. If you purchased a Chinook Book this year, there are bus tickets in the back of your book. Or consider purchasing a booklet of Adult or Youth 2-Zone tickets the next time you’re at Fred Meyers or Safeway. Donating them to Raphael House will help defray transportation costs for the families we serve.
