Thursday, May 17 | 4PM - 7PM
Sunnyside Centenary United Methodist
3520 SE Yamhill St. Portland, OR 97214
Donation Drop Off is held the First Thursday of each month from 11AM-2PM and on the Third Thursday from 4-7PM at Sunnyside Centenary United Methodist Church. Donors should enter the building on 35th Ave.
The generous support of community donations makes our programs possible. The current state of the economy means that costs for providing food and clothing to the survivors and their children living in our shelter have risen dramatically. If you’re interested in making a donation or hosting a donation drive at your school, office or place of worship, please check our wish lists to see what we need most!

We are thrilled to announce that for the 2nd year in a row, Raphael House of Portland made Oregon Business Magazine’s annual list of the 100 Best Nonprofits to Work For in Oregon! The rankings were based on the confidential input of employees who answered 60 questions about workplace satisfaction on topics such as benefits, management, trust, work environment and development. The survey was voluntary and free of charge, and independently calculated by research partners Davis, Hibbitts and Midghall. More than 200 nonprofits participated and 6,700 employees completed the survey. Rankings within the top 100 list will be announced in late September and published in the October issue of Oregon Business Magazine.
As we all know, a happy workplace leads to a staff doing the highest quality work. This news just confirms what we already knew - that Raphael House is an outstanding organization in so many different ways!
Are you interested in hosting an event to benefit Raphael House or raise awareness of our programs and services?
Each year generous community members donate their time and energy to our cause by hosting House Parties, benefit runs, swap meets, bake sales, barbecues and every other kind of event you can think of - the thing they all have in common? They all either raise money to support Raphael House financially or help us distribute life-saving information on domestic violence and healthy relationships.
If you’d like to host your own event, please take time to download our official Policy for Community Fundraising Activities and contact us for a quick chat before you start planning. You can .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or call 503.222.6507 x308.
For tips and suggestions on how you can get involved in the movement to end violence and support Raphael House by hosting a House Party, please download our house party kit, which also includes important information on how to have a representative from Raphael House come talk to your guests about the cause.
Friends and supporters gathered at Twist Gallery for conversation, wine and light hors d’oeuvres as we honored Renee Spears of Rose City Mortgage with the 2010 Advocate for Change Award. Many thanks to Renee for her years of support and to Twist, New Deal Distillery and Moonstruck Chocolates for making the event a smashing success!
If you visited your local New Seasons Market on Mother’s Day Weekend, you may have been lucky enough to taste the delicious strawberry shortcake being sold outside. Every year local Soroptimist groups volunteer to serve up shortcakes donated by New Seasons - all proceeds go to local domestic violence programs. Thank you to New Seasons and to all the wonderful volunteers who made this event such a success!
