Lucia and her children are “dreaming big” again
Lucía arrived with three small children and a single suitcase after fleeing her abusive husband. She had given up her dream of becoming a teacher, but once we helped her family settle into a safe home of their own, she had the confidence to “dream big” again.
Over time, and with support from the Raphael House community, Lucía went back to school. She now has a career supporting youth and families who have experienced trauma, and works to ensure they have access to the same safety net that allowed her family to thrive.
“Because I am living a life for myself, my children can finally dream. They know the bottom isn’t going to drop out. They have a home to go to where they can be themselves. I tell them, ‘Dream big and we will figure it out.’”
